Approaching Jazz Standards
In this weekly class, participants enroll monthly to focus on one jazz standard in depth. Each month, we listen to various recordings, learn the melody and chord changes by ear, and transcribe patterns for improvisation. Students build improvisational skills, gaining confidence each week in navigating the melody and chord changes throughout the month.
Open to ALL instruments and vocals. This program is designed for middle school, high school and adult students that have experience on their instruments and are wanting to learn how to improvise and play jazz.
Classes meet on Thursday afternoons in June from 1:00-2:30pm at Air House Music Academy, Studio C (109 S. Ridge Rd, Wichita, KS).
The cost is $20 per week, to be paid at the beginning of the month. Since there are 4 weeks in June, the total cost is $100 for the month.
